The Connecticut Blues Perform Aboard Carnival Cruise Lines Victory
The Connecticut Blues departed August 6, 2001 from New York City pier aboard the Carnival Cruise Lines "Victory". Twenty-eight members, family and friends enjoyed the 5-day cruise with day stops in St. John, New Brunswick and Halifax, Nova Scotia.
|
While at sea, the Blues enjoyed the pools, hot tubs, sun decks, casino, night-clubs, game rooms, shows, restaurants, bars, and shopping. The weather was sunny, warm and perfect all week despite the weather reports from back home of brutal 100+ degree days!
After overhearing a Blues jam session, the cruise director invited the group to perform in the Caribbean Lounge on the last full day of sailing. The drummers covered a banquet table for a makeshift drum and, along with the fifers, performed before a packed audience with exhilarating applause! The cruise director presented the Blues members with certificates and mementos and commented that he had never seen or heard that kind of entertainment aboard ship before!
Reluctantly, the group had to disembark and return to their homes, but with plenty of good memories and plans for their next pleasure trip.
